Vermont Law and Graduate School's Graduate Certificate in Restorative Justice Scholarship Application

Scholarship Selection
Vermont Law and Graduate School has two separate scholarships for the Graduate Certificate in Restorative Justice.  Please indicate which scholarship you are applying for.

The National Center on Restorative Justice (NCORJ) funds five full-tuition scholarships to receive a Graduate Certificate in Restorative Justice.  The NCORJ is a federally funded collaboration between Vermont Law and Graduate School, the University of Vermont, the University of San Diego, and the US Office of Justice Programs focused on improving criminal justice policy and practice in the United States.

Scholarship Applications from the following will receive priority consideration:
  • Justice System Impacted Persons
  • Community Organizers
  • Criminal Justice Professionals (i.e., Law Enforcement, Corrections, Judges, Prosecutors, Public Defenders, Re-entry Workers, Social Service Providers)
  • First-Generation College Graduates
Scholarship recipients will be expected to draw on their learning from the program and class projects to create an educational resource for a specific audience (this could be any audience; examples include law enforcement, judges, families of justice involved individuals, etc.) and aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of restorative justice within that audience.  This educational resource may be shared publicly through NCORJ channels.

This is not considered an application to the Certificate itself, you will need to submit the Graduate Certificate in Restorative Justice application in order to be considered.

The Adirondack Foundation Restorative Justice Scholarship funds tuition for a year-round resident of the Adirondacks, or adjacent north country, to earn a Graduate Certificate in Restorative Justice through the Vermont Law and Graduate School Center for Justice Reform.  This scholarship covers tuition but does not include funding for fees or books.  Restorative justice creates less punitive responses to harm and builds and strengthens communities and organizations through relational practices and inclusive participation.  Restorative justice practices are expanding in the criminal justice, child protection, and educational fields.  The Graduate Certificate in Restorative Justice is available fully online or residentially.

A strong priority will be given to applications from first-generation college graduates with an interest in working in or with:
  • Justice Systems
  • Educational Systems
  • Underserved Populations
Scholarship recipients will be asked to make a presentation upon completion of the Graduate Certificate in Restorative Justice and may be featured in publications by Vermont Law and Graduate School or the Adirondack Foundation.

This is not considered an application to the Certificate itself, you will need to submit the Graduate Certificate in Restorative Justice application in order to be considered.
